1. Tashkant

2. Samarkand

The history of Samarkand is about 2,750 years old and has witnessed many upheavals during the times of Alexander the Great, the Arabic Conquest, Changez -Khan Conquest and lastly Tamerlane's. Hence, the culture of Samarkand was developed and mixed together with the Iranian, Indian, Mongolian and a bit of the Western and Eastern cultures.

3. Samarkand’s mausoleums inspired the Taj Mahal 

Persian rulers were building Uzbekistan’s 14th-century mausoleums – such as Gur-e-Amir, devoted to the leader Amir Timur – in eye-popping cobalt’s, cyan and sapphires before they even conceived of building India’s now famous counterparts.

Also from Timur’s dynasty, Registan Square was the heart of the medieval city and its commercial center –with striking mosaics and domes in turquoise. In its heyday, it would have been filled with bazaars, selling all the textiles and fabrics you’d expect of a Silk Road hub. 

Heavily constructed in artistic styles by the Soviets, Registan is central Asia’s one of most impressive sights.

 At Independence Square, gold, cylindrical art deco-style light fittings are works of art in themselves. It’s a lot more than the price of your ticket.
